Entry Category: Default Category Published On: 07-02-2008 06:28 PM This is frustrating. Having seen Jose Reyes' tirade when Jerry Manuel took over as manager and having people call him a selfish immature person, I was upset. But I am even more upset now, having seen Troy Percival pull pretty much the same shit and having it ignored. Not only does it get ignored, but MLB.com PRAISES him for being fiery and competitive.
Where's the line for double standards? It's ridiculous. Percival is 37 or so, and has been in the league for much longer, shouldn't he be berated for acting much more immature that Reyes did? Kinda stupid if you ask me.
Not to mention that everyone gets annoyed by Jose's handshakes, and yet every other team has at least one nut...like Nick Swisher was on the A's last year, if I remember correctly. Everyone does that, and Reyes has moved his to the dugout, and yet people still complain. I understand that he does it on the top step, but it is in the limits of the dugout.
I just don't find it fair the way that Reyes gets picked on for everything he does wrong. People have to just lay off him. Entry Category: Default Category Published On: 06-30-2008 11:46 PM So, having watched the Mets this season, I have noticed that inconsistency can make a decent team look horrible. And in real life, inconsistency has made my summer very mediocre.
Lately, my friends and I have been having our typical home run derbys, but the problem is that I cannot locate on the mound. Ever since my friend hit me in the ribs with a line drive on the mound last year, I've kinda had the yips, and never really got back to being able to lob it over the plate. So, the frustration for the hitter mounts, and I get frustrated over my lack of command, which only exasperates the situation...It's gotten to the point where baseball is actually no longer fun for me...and I don't like it.
Then, in bowling, which I do once a week, I've lost my ability to control the spin of the ball. Similar problems, and I've always had mechanical problems in both sports, but they seem to be improving, without the results getting any better.
Those things are typically quite frustrating, but the biggest problem with my summer has been health issues involving both my family and one of my closest friends. Very upsetting, and they weigh on my mind a lot....enough to make me wonder if these could be weighing on me enough to negatively impact the other things.
Anyways, this summer has gotten off to a shaky start. I just hope that it gets a bit better. Hopefully, when I eventually get back to school, it will take my mind off of some of this stuff. Entry Category: Default Category Published On: 06-28-2008 03:08 PM Yesterday I got my first big paycheck of the summer. 350 dollars for the week. Not a bad deal, considering I work in a warehouse, and most of my job is putting labels on CD's. That was a big paycheck, considering I was broke.
I also went to the Mets Yankees game last night, and it resulted in a poor showing by my Mets. Pedro Martinez struggled a bit, and the offense really let Sidney Ponson off the hook.
Very ironic that I blame the offense after the previous game at Yankee Stadium where we scored 15. We had been averaging 11 runs per game against the Yankees this year. This was a tough loss, but with Santana out there today, I have faith we can turn it back to the winning side.
Today I'm going to play a game of pickup baseball after the Subway Series game, and hopefully keep up the good hitting I've had so far. So far, over the span of 4 pickup games, I'm 6-8, 3 doubles, 2 triples, 1 single, 0 HR.
Anyway, I guess that's a pretty good recap of the last 24 hours. I'll post later letting you guys know how baseball went
