Per Ken Rosenthal:
The Rockies have agreed to trade outfielder Preston Wilson to the Nationals for righthanded pitcher Zach Day and Class AAA outfielder J.J. Davis, the Sporting News has learned.

Before the deal can be completed, the two clubs must agree on how much the Nationals will pay on what remains of Wilson's $12.5 million salary. Also, Wilson must OK the deal because the Nationals are one of five teams to which he can reject a trade.

Wilson's contract is terrible and his numbers will likely take a good hit due to the RFK factor. But then again the Nats aren't paying a whole lot in terms of talent for him.

Day could be good in Coors as a big time groundball pitcher.

Then out of fairness to the others you will be Slagathor.

For some reason I have always been very sad that we are trading Wilson, but his numbers are horrible this year playing in Coors. Maybe it's ok if Day and this Davis kid do good. That said I don't expect anything out of Day, he's a pitcher.

The problem with Day is that his ground to fly ratio keeps going down. Not to mention his erratic control, I just can't see this being a good move.

It wasn't a great move, but the Rocks didn't exactly give up Todd Helton for Day. more of a salary dump by the Rockies.

Well didn't know Wilson could reject the deal, which could be the problem.

If the deal does get done, it's a salary dump by Rockies and overall a good deal for both sides.

I don't think it being dead was cause of Wilson's preference of going or not going to D.C. It was issues with the trade itself, the minor leaguers Colorado getting and the money.

What my issue with this deal is what are they going to do when Ryan Church comes back. Wilson is a FA at the end of the season, doubtful they bring him back. Church has had a solid season for them (hitting over .310) and Wilkerson has been pretty good for them as a leadoff hitter. Jose Guillen is hitting the cover off the ball. Now they have Wilson too?!?!? It would be intresting to see what they do from there.

Dude, the Mets are the ones that signed him AFTER he was done for A LOT of money. You've got NOTHING to laugh at.

Besides...YOU traded Kazmir.

Yea, but last year I laughed, but not a funny laugh. It was more like the "OMFG the Mets are so stupid!" kind of laugh.
