B.J. Ryan returns to the Blue Jays, helps team get a sweep

B.J. Ryan was activated from the DL before today's game against Texas.

Ryan returns a year since his injury (April 14th of 07), and 11 months after his Tommy Johns surgery (done in May).

He made an impact in his first day back, picking up the 10th inning save against Texas, to get a 3-game sweep in Texas (1st time since 1985).

To make room for Ryan the Jays optioned RHP Brandon League to AAA

For the Jays sake, I hope he stays healthy and productive.

They better ease him back in the role. Accardo has done a great job.

Accardo did great last year after taking over for Ryan (and Frasor) and early on this season (1st 3 games) but as DK said he blew his last two SVO against Oakland and was actually replaced by Scott Downs earlier this weekend

No, by great job I meant his wonderful 2.14 ERA and 30 saves last year. He also has three saves this year. Let's not blow our wad on his past two outings.

Makes the bullpen that much stronger IMO. Now you have a couple of good options before BJ in the 9th.
