The Rangers want to win now, but they won't sacrifice the future to do it. Rangers All-Stars Michael Young, Alfonso Soriano, Mark Teixeira and Kenny Rogers have helped keep the club within striking distance in the American League West and their output will have to continue in the second half of the season for the Rangers to have any hopes for a playoff berth. Outfielders Laynce Nix and Kevin Mench have produced at the bottom of the lineup, and Rod Barajas, in his first full season as the club's catcher, has been a steady defensive asset, despite less-than-impressive offensive numbers.
