Rangers go for series win against Yankees tonight

The Rangers will be going for their 3rd win in their four game set against the Yankees tonight sending young Scott Feldman to the mound against long-time vet Mike Mussina.

Feldman and Mussina also faced each other on June 30th at Yankees Stadium. Mussina pitched 6 solid innings allowing just 2 earned runs on 5 hits while striking out 8, but Feldman outpitched him for the win allowing only 1 earned run in 5.2 innings of work.

The Rangers won the first two games of the series with offense scoring a combined 17 runs before dropping yesterday's game 5-3. Texas not only lost the 3rd game of the series but also their closer and a starting outfielder as well. Both C.J. Wilson and David Murphy were placed on the DL during this series.

Scott Feldman did his job going 7 innings and only allowing 2 runs, but he got zero offensive support. Mike Mussina also went 7 innings, struck out six, and did not allow a run as the Yankees dealt the Rangers a 3-0 loss and a series split.

Mussina has been pitching amazing lately. He is tied for the second most wins in the majors with 15. Good win for us last night though, we really needed to pick it up.
