SIDNEY PONSON?? Seriously? -
05-28-2008, 11:16 PM
I was all ready to post a rant on how in the hell Sidney Ponson can still be employed a big league team...until I looked at the numbers. Sidney Ponson has a 3.63 ERA in 7 starts!!! And he pitched a 6-hit, 1-run complete game!! I can't believe I am reading this but Sidney Ponson is pitching like a quality pitcher again. Even though he is an Aruban knight I still don't think this is going to last though. Only 20 strikeouts in 44.2 IP is not indicative of a great performance. And I just can't help but think this is a fluke. We're supposed to believe Sidney Ponson has reinvented himself all of a sudden after a horrific, horrific 5 years? In Texas?? Either this is some kind of absolutely phenomenal career renaissance or a fluke? It's gotta be a fluke...right? Can this really be happening?

Second, I'd slap NYGF because he just seems to have it coming for him. I swear man you wouldn't last 5 minutes in California before you got your ass kicked. So I'd be doing him a service too. -hot corner gurl

hey, the rewards system is clearly working if he's finding something meaningful to post about.
as far as Sidney Fatson goes, there's no way this keeps up

I don't think it worked, actually.

Nothing says I can't do these all at the last second.
I'll try not to do that next time, but I actually haven't been around as much thanks to work and just haven't the time/remembered about these.
But it boggles my mind that this man is still employed.

The only problem with Ponson is every time I pick him up on my fantasy team is the time he pitches like shit.

I don't expect him to keep up his quality pitching either, especially considering he has given up 9 runson 21 hits over his last 12 innings of work, but he has had an impressive start to the season going 4-1 with a 3.83 ERA in 8 starts. He may not be striking out a lot, he just isn't a strikeout pitcher, but he hasn't hurt himself with walks too much or the homerun ball. He has only walked 13, I guess that's around one and a half walks per start, and only 2 homeruns allowed. He has been a pleasant surprise for the Rangers, but I don't expect he will finish with an ERA under 4. I would be happy with an ERA under 4.5 though.
