Laird lands backstop job over Salty -

To begin the season veteran Gerald Laird will be the primary catcher for the Texas Rangers. Laird is the more polished defensively and has some pop in his bat which ultimately won him the job over the youngster Salty who has much more upside. The Rangers manager said he will also use Salty as a DH and also 1B because his bat is too good to take out of the lineup.
This is ridiculous. Saltalamacchia is going to be very, very good. And the Rangers don't need a better defensive catcher, they need someone who is a difference maker somewhere in that lineup, and I think Jarrod can provide that spark.
Well, the Rangers pitching staff probably wants a defensive guy back there. They have tons of offense, they need their pitchers to pick it up this season
I do recall just listening to the podcast and someone saying that Salty is the sleeper at catcher. Hee Hee just joking. He is going to be a premier player either that being at 1B, C or even DH. He can hit the ball.
Thank You, I just don't know what hasgotten into. Maybe I am giddy about almost being done my final paper for High School English and then I will graduate.
Every team in MLB would love to have Salty and I think he needs to be in the everyday lineup. I don't care what position he plays he can flat out hit. I thought it was dumb of the Braves to move him but Teixeira made a great transition from the AL to the NL. It still cost them a lot more than keeping Salty.
Giants > Padres
To the Padres returning to the cellar, exactly what their fans deserve
No because they have an allstar catcher as is. It'll keep looking better for the braves as long as Texas bounces him from C to 1B to Dh and back again. Or hell, even demote him to AAA as Yahoo reports they might do. Doesn't really matter if he can hit a ton if the team doesn't know what they're doing with him
