Jennings Close To Becoming A Ranger

A source told the Dallas Morning News that the Rangers are close to signing free agent Jason Jennings. There was no doubt the Rangers would bring in a veteran starter after trading Edinson Volquez for Josh Hamilton. Jennings offers more upside than just about anyone else out there, and it's possible he'll be ready to in spring training as he completes his rehab from elbow surgery.

Jennings in that ballpark will be funny to watch but the Rangers are getting a warm body to go out and pitch every fifth day. As long as they don't give him a ridiculous amount of money then I am fine with it. Switching leagues could go in his favor.

As long as we get the 2006 Jason Jennings, or even the 2002 Jennings for that matter, I'll be happy. If he can handle Coors Field he should be able to handle the Ballpark in Arlington, although he is going from thin air to sweltering heat. :P

The AL has scouting reports on him, but until you have actually seen what a pitcher has, you are at a disadvantage hitting against them. He could be a good pickup.

He can't be much worse than anyone else we would throw out there this year. hah
I don't hold out a lot of hope for Texas anymore. I used to think they had the talent to put a competitive team out there (in terms of making a playoff push), but it just doesn't happen. Maybe if I expect the worst I'll be pleasantly surprised.
