Evan Longoria gets shot at the bigs. -

    The Tampa Bay Rays called up Longoria from Class AAA Durham on Friday. The prized third base prospect will start Saturday against the Baltimore Orioles.
The move was made possible when the Rays placed infielder Willy Aybar on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 10, with a left hamstring strain. The third overall pick by the Rays in 2006, Longoria had been expected to start the season with Tampa Bay after a meteoric rise through the minor leagues. I hope he is ready to produce. He was doing little in the minors so far this season. He was hitting around .200 with NO homers. My thinking on this was Evan was upset that he did not make the big league club out of spring training like most people expected. With Aybar being out this is where Evan can stick with the team if he produces. The Rays are off to there best start ever, lets see if they can keep it going.

My guess is that he's here to stay!! Even if he struggles a bit. He needs to learn at the major league level now.

What do the Rays really have to lose. Right now they are playing Aybar at 3B. Longoria has to be an improvement over that.

Rays seem to be a team on the rise!!
I like this kid, and they have some quality players and pichers to go with Longoria. I the direction they are heading. |

Great to finally hear! Evan will be here to stay because Aybar is poop. Make the best of it! This just adds a boost to an already decent Rays team.

Even if he is on the D.L. the Longoria move is a positive for the club. Longoria has way more upside than Aybar.

Evan Longoria, I saw him play against the Sox last night and he sure looks like the real deal at the plate and in the field.
