How ****ing stupid can a guy be? He even said the NL is playing like it was in the 1800's. Or maybe like it was before 1972. Hank is treating this like Wang only hurt himself because he had to run the bases. But that's not the case. This is a freak injury. Wang did not pull a hamstring or quad but strained a ligament in his foot. It was freak and could have happened anywhere. Walking in the hotel, getting out of bed or jogging in the OF before the game. If your ace pitcher can;t do the simple task of running the bases, then you need to find a better pitcher or a new trainer. I have no sympathy for Hank or anyone who thinks like him. Boo hoo for the player who can't play baseball.

I don't know if I'd go that far, but I think that if Hank is so worried about pitchers getting hurt, tell them not to swing. Don't let them reach base, if you don't want them running.

On Hank, Hank is a moron. Even Gary Cohen, who usually doesn't pass judgment on other teams, called it "one of the most idiotic statements [he's] ever heard".

No one called him soft. Hank was the closest one to calling him soft. I was saying stop crying about your pitching getting hurt on a freak injury playing a BASEBALL game.

Most good pitchers are. You don't have to DH for them and can DH for someone other than the pitcher. We did that on my team when our best pitched. We let him hit and DH for our RFer. They even have courtesy runners for the catcher.

You're right that Hank is a moron, and he's overreacting absurdly here. But the NL should get rid of pitchers "hitting"...although that's a debate for another day
