Overview- The Angels and Mariners are coming off tough series vs the A's and White Sox, respectively. Both teams are in a 3 way tie for 1st with a 6-6 record.
Probable Starters-
Today- Aaron Sele (1-0, 3.75) vs Paul Byrd (0-2, 6.92)
Sele gave up 3 hits and 1 earned run in 6 and 1/3 innings pitched in his last start. Byrd has been tagged for 6 runs in each of his 2 starts this season. This game should be pretty straight up. Get to Byrd early and often, forcing the issue.
Tomorrow- Jamie Moyer (2-0, 2.50) vs Kevin Gregg (1-0, 5.40)
Moyer had an effective game scattering 9 hits in 7 IP, only allowing 2 runs. Kevin Gregg won his only start of the season allowing 3 hits and 3 runs in 5 innings pitched.
Players to watch
Ichiro Suzuki- Hitting .447 with a 1.096 OPS as a leadoff man. Has hit safely in 11 of the 12 games this season.
Garrett Anderson- Has a team high 11 RBIs, and a .327 batting average.
Vlad Guerrero- His slugging is .563 already to start the year. Only Bengie Molina has higher in that offense.
Numbers to watch
14- # of Homers allowed by the Angels this season.
32- # of Comined RBIs from Sexson, Beltre and Boone.
2.94- Mariners Road ERA
.222- Mariners Opp BA on the Road
.221- Angels ERA at Home
1.42- Angels WHIP at Home.
Outlook- I see a split based on what has happened lately so far in the season.
Great breakdown, Porter. I think a split to be good. Just don't get swept.
Seattle Mariners @ Los Angeles Angels (I hate that) Date: April 18th 2005 First Pitch: 7:05 AM PST, Angel Staduim, Anaheim TV: FSN Season Series: Tied, 0-0
>>> (6-6) >>> Sele 1-0, 3.75 ERA @ >>> (6-6) >>> Byrd 0-2, 6.92 ERA
I've been wanting to get a chance to watch Madrich (sp) pitch. I'm bummed he's out on the DL. I saw him one game last seaon and was impressed. Should be a good series nonetheless.
1-0 Angels going into the top of the 2nd. Nice catch in CF btw.....
GO PADRES AND ANGELS ALL THE WAY IN 2008 ................ ..................
Mariners lost to the Angels 6-1, Paul Byrd allowed 11 hits but only 1 run. Its been a frustrating past couple of games for the M's as they drop a game back of the Angels and A's. Nine Mariners got hits.....NONE by Ichiro Suzuki thats pretty odd.
