for the woeful .249 team batting average.

Jeff Pentland is in his second year as batting coach, but he did have success last year as he oversaw the increase in team batting average (+.016), team slugging (+.033), and team OBP (+.008) from the previous year. Was that shear luck or does he know what he is doing?

GM Bill Bavasi - Has been here since 2003. I can't think of a great acquisition off the top of my head in that time period....but I am also not familiar with all of them. However Richie Sexon has been on the decline ever since he got here. Adrian Beltre certainly has lived up to the contract that he signed after the 48HR outburst in 2004. Jose Vidro doesn't have the pop in his bat that you would like to see from a DH.

Other reasons......discuss?

Richie Sexson is to blame. You could have 8 guys hitting over .300, and the team batting average would still be .249

I blame Bavasi, he signed Sexson.
