Rumors around saying that Seattle offered former Twins' pitcher Carlos Silva a 4 year, $44 million dollar deal.

This hopefully keeps Seattle from going after Bedard as reported. But I doubt it, I bet the M's and Dodgers are still in the race.

The M's weren't willing to pay Meche that last year but will pay Silva this year? Makes no sense. Silva making $44 mil/4 yrs makes no sense.

He isn't worth $44 mill a year

He is a better 11 M spent than the 9 we spent on Weaver.

He might do better in the Safe but I know first hand he has mental lapses.

They have to get a TOP of the ROTATION starter.

Did people honestly think Meche was going to have a year like that and stay healthy?

Well if he is the true groundball pitcher this he is known to be. Then he could be an average starter.

He would have won a lot more games in Minnesota, but he had the worst run support in the majors. If Seattle can score some runs when he starts, he will be fine. I still don't think he's worth 11 mil a year.

In this market right now as it stands, 11 might be the norm of middle of the rotation starters at the moment.

Hell I am willing to try out and make 11 million a year.

I look forward for the Twins hitting off against Silva. If the deal is made and Silva gets 11 million offered he better take the deal right away. Truthfully at best he is worth no more that 6-8 million. His main issue is when on the mound he loses focus on what needs to be done. There has been games where his is on. Others where a high school team would lite him up for a 5 spot in the first inning.

Why is Bedard or Santana not in the M's plans? I know that your club has enough prospects to get a deal made. The 140 million a year over 7 years I think is what the M's are trying to keep away from.

Santana has that complete no trade clause. Santana has made it pretty clear he won't come to Seattle. I haven't heard too much more on the Bedard front. Having seen Silva pitch at the Safe, I think he can be effective with the defense behind him. He HAS to stay focused 100%. That ironically was Gil Meche's problem in Seattle too.
