Guillen To Get Extension

According to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Jose Guillen and the Mariners are on the verge of agreeing to a three-year contract extension. They've reportedly been negotiating for much of the season and the deal will replace the mutual option both sides hold for 2008. "We've been talking and we've been making very good progress," Guillen said. "I really don't want to talk about it, but I'm pretty sure it will be done soon." Guillen has had three good seasons in the last four and is a rare right-handed power hitter who doesn't seem to mind Safeco Field.

After the year he has had, I'd say he's worth giving an extension. He isn't worth anything crazy but is a fine addition on this M's team. Now if they can get rid of Sexson.

I think if he stays healthy this is a good signing. Really good signing. But they do need a better big bat than Sexson.
