The Giants are coming off a fantastic sweep of the division leading Dbacks and Molina and Rowand are red hot. Now the Giants return home and face the worst team in baseball, the Padres. The Giants are 4-1 against the Padres so far this season so they should easily take 2 of 3 in this series.

Game One
- Greg Maddux (3-4, 3.76 ERA) vs Matt Cain (2-3, 4.43 ERA). Will the Giants blow another win for Cain? Will the Giants ever beat Maddux again? Cain went six innings and gave up just two runs in a no decision in his last start. The bullpen blew the game for him so hopefully he can have one of his one hit shutouts so he can assure himself the victory. Cain is 0-1 with a 3.97 ERA in two starts against the Padres this season. Maddux is of course 1-0 with a .64 ERA in his two starts this season and 29-14 with a 2.80 ERA lifetime against the Giants. Hopefully the veterans will fill out the lineup since Maddux has made our young guys look silly.

Game Two- Josh Banks (1-0, 0.00 ERA) vs Pat Misch (0-1, 6.54 ERA). Misch has looked awful and Banks has looked anything but. I personally thought Misch would have been sent down but that would be smart and the Giants rarely do that. Misch is still looking for his first career win after appearing in 25 games.

Game Three- Randy Wolf (3-4, 4.59 ERA) vs Tim Lincecum (7-1, 2.33 ERA). The Padres were hoping they didn't have to face Lincecum but they will. Lincecum has been one of the best pitchers in the league and had a great outing his last time out. He went seven and a third and gave up three runs but really his bullpen let him down allowing two of his runners to score. Lincecum is 1-0 with a .73 ERA in two starts against the Padres this year. Wolf is 0-0 with an ERA of 3 this season against the Gigantes.

The Giants should win the series and possibly sweep. I would like to see the veterans face Maddux which means no Bowker who just swings at the first pitch every time. Let's just hope Misch can keep the ball down as the Padres have been hitting the ball out the park pretty well recently.

2008 Giants > Padres

Pathetic Stat of the Year- Matt Cain has a 3.74 career ERA, but has won just 30 of his 104 starts.

I'm thinking a definate series win for the Giants, but I'm not so sure about a sweep. Game 2 looks too iffy for me to decide. Game 1 should be the best, IMO. Maddux vs Cain...sounds great on paper. Hopefully it'll be a good show.

Yeah Game Two scares me too but Misch has to get a win sometime doesn't he? Maddux scares me too but if we have our veteran hitters in there, we have a better shot. Having Cain and Lincecum in this series makes me happy.

Starting to sound reminescent of Barry Zito.

The offense is really heating up too. Molina and Rowand are two of the hottest hitters in baseball right now. The Padres don't score very many runs, so I think that you should be abe to take some of these games pretty easily.

Misch is a lot like Zito. Both are lefties who can't throw very hard and go to a full count on almost every hitter. Plus when they get rocked, they get ****ing rocked hard!

Giants lose a tough one in 13 innings. Cain pitched a beauty and of course did not get the win. Winn had a good game and Rowand finally stole a base after saying he would get 20+ this year. Giants turned a triple play aTough break and hopefully Misch will come through today.

UGH! Giants give up four runs thanks to two errors in the first ****ing inning and Misch getting rocked didn't help. 4-0 after one half inning. How can we sweep one of the best teams in baseball and play like shit against the worst team in baseball?

Yeah they were saying in the pre-pre-game show that Misch has to get ahead of hitters if he is to get his first win. He's at 43 pitches through three innings - 23 strikes and 20 balls. Not good.

The Giants aren't exactly a stellar team themselves, current hot streak notwithstanding.

Not a stellar team but better than the Padres.

Still 4-0 in the 6th. Misch settled down and Banks has looked very sharp.

Not so much better that it's shocking that they'd lose to them a couple times.

The two teams are a game and a half apart in the standings.

It's not like we're talking about a mediocre .500 team losing to a horrible .300 team here.

They're both pretty bad teams.

5-0 now. The Giants have two errors too (Castillo and Lewis). Not good!
