We have quite a series here as both teams aren't doing so well but the pitching staffs are #1 and #2 in strikeouts. Reds are #1 and we are #2. Giants are coming off a two game sweep of the Padres.
Game One- Aaron Harang vs Jonathan Sanchez. Sanchez is 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA this year and is currently tied for second on the team in strikeouts. He has 26 SOs in 20 IP but that comes with 10 walks. He has only one career start against the Reds and that resulted in a win. Harang has a career 3-5 record against the Giants.
Game Two- Matt Belisle vs Kevin Correia. Correia didn't fare so well in his last start and is 1-3 on the year with a 4.21 ERA. Correia has a 3-1 career record against the Reds with some of those wins coming out of the pen. Let's hope he can go deeper into the ballgame and keep it close. Belisle lasted only four innings in his only start this year giving up 5 ERs.
Game Three- Edinson Volquez vs Barry Zito. Oh lord he we go again! Zito is 0-5 and possesses a 5.61 ERA. He lasted only 3 2/3 innings last game while getting rocked as usual. We can only hope this becomes win number one but Volquez is tough and likely to shut down our offense. Volquez is 3-0 with a 1.21 ERA.
I can see us taking 2 of 3 with Zito losing again but who knows, Zito might just get that first win to propel him.
2008 Giants > Padres
Pathetic Stat of the Year- Matt Cain has a 3.74 career ERA, but has won just 30 of his 104 starts.

So no Johnny Cueto, eh? Lucked out there. I predict 2 out of 3 for the Giants too, only I think that Zito will get one of the wins this series. Not sure why, but I think he will.

Yeah, I guess he has been. I was just going off all the hype that I've heard about Cueto. Reds really have some good guys in their rotation (Arroyo not included). But there's a lot of buzz in the city about Dusty Baker returning to SF and about those 3 homers Jr needs to reach 600...

It sure was! Sanchez actually went deep into a game going eight innings with 10 K's with Wilson getting another save. Molina knocked in two and Durham has a six game hitting streak. I would like to see Bowker sit and give Ortmeier some PT. Giants are in second place but a long way away from those Baby Backs.

The Giants say that Correia is day-to-day with this injury. The head trainer is hinting towards saying the injury is some sort of a strain, which would make sense.
