Rather than go to Brent Lillibridge or Jordan Schafer, Braves GM Frank Wren wants to trade for a short-term option in center.
Wren indicated that he has no plans to pursue Torii Hunter, Aaron Rowand or even Mike Cameron. A one-year signing of Corey Patterson or Kenny Lofton could be considered, but Wren would prefer a trade. David DeJesus and Coco Crisp look like possibilities.

Actually, Reefer was right about ARod. For one, the Yankees were winning and making playoff appearances long before ARod showed up, it didn't just start because he was signed by the Yankees.
During his time in Seattle (1994-2000), the Mariners made the playoffs just 3 times (1995, 1997, 2000). Ironically enough, Seattle had their best season, as a franchise, the year after ARod left. In 2001, the team won 116 games.
During his time in Texas (2001-2003), the Rangers never had a winning season.
So to say that teams are winning when ARod comes around is not exactly accurate.

Do you know what Davis's status is? I mean is he projected to be an every day starter in CF for the Giants next year?

Right now Roberts is our CFer. If somehow they can move him, Lewis and Davis would be favored to fill the position.

Giants GM Brian Sabean is open to bringing back free agent Pedro Feliz, but he isn’t looking to lock his team into another long-term deal.
Sabean believes Feliz may get a three-year deal. "If that's the case," he said, "it's not going to be something that we'll pursue, at least at this time." The Giants haven’t made any noise about pursuing Mike Lowell and they don’t appear to be in on Alex Rodriguez at the moment. If they don’t retain Feliz, they might go after Mike Lamb or Mark Loretta to play third.
|
Sabean just needs to let Feliz go. I don't see why ownership still has a boner for this guy. Lamb or Loretta would be an improvement but rather see someone better.

Nate Schierholtz homered and doubled Friday for Scottsdale of the Arizona Fall League.
Two of his four homers came against an inferior Chinese National Team, but Schierholtz is hitting .300 in the AFL even with that game discounted. Overall, he's at .329/.347/.616 in 73 at-bats. He ranks third in the league in slugging and sixth in OPS.
|
Giants might want to make a big splash for an OFer and giving Schierholtz a chance in LF. Hunter or Rowand would be ideal. Nate impressed in Sept. and I think he can make the squad and hit 15-20 homers. Having so many OFers gives some trade bait along with our pitching to get a really big bat.

To get a "really big bat", the name you'll have to start with is Tim Lincecum and Sabean has already said that he's not willing to move him. I don't think Lowry is going to get you what you want.

B.J. Upton: Upton is coming off his first full season and hit .300/.386/.508 with 24 homeruns and 82 RBI. He also had 22 stolen bases. Upton played 78 games in CF and 48 games at second. He has played third before but not that well. He is a guy without a position but is 23, good and available. Downside is he struck out 154 times. The Giants could try him at third or in the OF. This would be a good move for our future and we have plenty of what they are looking for and that's pitching.

Lowry alone won't which is why I suggested the package deal. I do not want to see him go but if he helps get a 30 HR bat, I have to be for it. Pat Misch looked impressive and will be up for filling a spot in the rotation.

I didn't see the package deal, who are you sending for a 30 HR bat besides Lowry?

You could send Winn, Hennessey, Durham, Lewis, Davis, Threets, Correia, Sanchez, Kline, and anyone else you want to throw on there in any combination. Lowry has been the Giants best pitcher over the past three seasons. Plus if we fill LF with Schierholtz we can just sign a big bat.
