Jason Schmidt was placed on the 15 day DL with a shoulder strain. Schmidt has pitched a lot of pitches in his starts and his velocity has been down. Hopefully this will get him back on track like it did Tomko last year. His stint on the DL was retroactive to Sunday. Scott Munter was called up to take his spot. Munter is 1-3 with a 5.11 ERA in Triple A. I would have liked to see Hennessey called up again or maybe even Foppert, but this will have to do. Its not like the Giants were winning Schmidt's starts lately so I don't see this as a big setback. Schmidt is the heart of this rotation and can't survive without him more than he is expected to miss. Fassero got the start tonight and it looks like Ellison will get the majority of playing time in Cf now.
