Lets not rush this kid. They won't win it with or without him so lets give the young guys on the team a full shot, and let the kids come along slowly.

Clayton Tanner tossed six shutout innings and struck out nine Tuesday for Single-A San Jose.
Tanner hooked up in a nice pitcher's duel with Colorado's Esmil Rogers, who struck out eight in seven scoreless innings. Tanner, a 20-year-old lefty, is one of the Giants' top pitching prospects, though he doesn't have great upside. He could fit in at the back of the rotation before the end of 2009.
Who knows? He might just be the next Francisco Liriano. Maybe this time we can hold on to him.

My hope is that he is better than the current #5 for the Giants. Another Liriano I think is just a pipe dream.

Ben Snyder tossed seven scoreless innings in a win for Single-A San Jose on Thursday.

Snyder, 23, went 16-5 with a 2.09 ERA at low-A Augusta last year. Perhaps the Giants will consider giving him a midseason promotion if he continues to excel this season. He has a mediocre fastball for a left-hander, but his changeup and above average command could get him to the majors.
Let's hope he does get that promotion because it looks like he has good numbers. Let's see how they translate going up the ladder.

He can replace Zito right now. He could not do any worse!

Augusta GreenJackets left fielder Ramon Corona had a game to write home about on Friday night. And that's saying something, since he and his family are neighbors with a future Hall of Famer.

Corona hit his first three full-season homers, tripled and drove in a career-high five runs to power the GreenJackets to a 9-4 victory over the Lexington Legends.
Now that is a game to remember!!

It seems that the Giants have more young talent then most people thought.

They have had one of the best overall minor league programs the past couple of seasons.

It will take more than a couple of years to rebuild this system.

Low Single-A Savannah's Angel Villalona homered, doubled and drove in five runs on Sunday.
Villalona, who has made the move from third base to first this year, is batting .310/.364/.517 through nine games. He doesn't turn 18 until August, so he doesn't need to put up big numbers this year to remain the Giants' No. 1 prospect.
He has years to get used to first base. Can't wait to see this guy in action.

With the money they have in him and the talent he has he will be their #1 prospect until he steps on the field at AT&T Park for the first time as a full member of the team. Make no mistake, he is the future of the Giants.

Giants signed RHP Josh Sharpless to a minor league contract.
Released by the Pirates at the end of camp, Sharpless will head to extended spring training and then move to Triple-A Fresno once he's in shape.
His name says it all, sharpless as in not that good. He does possess a career minor league 2.74 ERA but walks too many and isn't sharp with his pitches. Maybe the Giants can turn him around and be more effective in the strike zone.

Nick Noonan tripled, doubled and drove in five runs Saturday for low Single-A Savannah.
Let's hope Brian Sabean skims over this one and Noonan isn't the next Giants prospect to board the Giants' sinking ship. The 2007 supplemental first-round pick is hitting .338 with seven doubles and two triples in the Sally League, but that comes with a 15/0 K/BB ratio in 68 at-bats.
I am all for promotion, just to AA

Sergio Romo struck out two in a perfect inning for Double-A Connecticut on Wednesday and has yet to allow a run in 10 innings.
Double-A hitters haven't had any more luck with Romo than A-ball hitters did. Because of his lack of a quality fastball, it seems to be almost taken for granted that he'll collapse at some point, but he's as good of a minor league reliever as there is out there. He allowed three hits, walked none and struck out 10 this season. Last year, he had a 1.36 ERA and a 106/15 K/BB ratio in 66 1/3 IP in the California League. He is 25 now, so it'd be nice if the Giants stopped moving him at a glacial pace and tried testing him with Triple-A.
I agree that he needs to be tested in AAA. Romo's numbers are impressive and the Giants were high on him last year. Move him up and see what he can do and maybe a September call up will be in his future if he succeeds.
