Jake Peavy traded this offseason?

I was listening to Mike and Mike in the morning and they had Buster Olney on, he said that the Padres will be shopping Jake Peavy to cut payroll.

I understand they want to get something for him, pretty sure they will get a good deal for him, my only beef is that if they want to cut payroll, why sign him to an extension in the first place?

Mike and Mike are idiots.

The Padres are not going to trade Jake, and even if they were to it wouldn't be for the explicit purpose of cutting the payroll that's already pretty low.

Mike and Mike just see a small market team that didn't do so well and used that to draw the conclusion that they're going to cut payroll (regardless of where it's at as is) and used that as their basis for this "rumor".

The only way Jake goes anywhere this offseason is if someone offers a king's ransom in return.

Lowering the Padres' payroll is not a king's ransom.

HAHA Dry. I was actually just kidding around, I doubt the Yankees will go after Peavy considering his imminent huge asking price. They'd rather shell out the bucks for CC than shell out the prospects for Peavy.
