At least EGON sounds cool because you're naming him after a Ghostbusters character.

"AGON" is just another example of the lame cookie cutter nickname that's plaguing major league baseball these days.

Shortening Gonzalez is going to happen, I just prefer it to be shortened to "Gonzo" rather than what people do instead.

You're allowed to prefer that......might want to get used to it not being your way ... I'd prefer a more creative version also......but it's a non-issue so we all might as well just roll along with the majority on this one.....

I've already gotten used to it, hence me typing it without thinking sometimes despite how much I don't like the cookie cutter nickname.

I'm just stating my dislike for it since RDR brought it up.

In the end it's just a nickname and, therefore, obviously a non issue, but I just think it's lame and lacks imagination.

Doesn't mean we can't still hate it and state that fact one gazillion times on this board just like other issues get beaten along with the dead horse....

It is a stoopid nickname. I wonder how he feels about it? I wonder what his teammates call him? His Mommy, his wife, his kids? Lets get him on this board and discuss it. PFF, you go to lots of games, get him over here.

Before either of you start with the literalism, it is just a thought.

I like A-Gon. It's very trendy these days for nicknames to be the first letter of the first name plus the first two/three letters of the last name. Like A-Rod, J-Lo, D-Lee, B-Webb, D-Wade or D-Ry.

That's the exact reason I don't like it.

In this case it DOES NOT WORK, IMO. And yeah, who cares about trends anyway? The Masses are Asses.

I have to applaud Pujols for his class and the TV guys for not showing replay after replay and not showing Young's bloody nose. They handled great. Sucks two Padres got hurt in one inning by the same guy. Memo to all MLB teams: Do not **** with Albert!

2008 Giants > Padres

Pathetic Stat of the Year- Matt Cain has a 3.74 career ERA, but has won just 30 of his 104 starts.

What a sad refelction of this season that we are filling our time arguing about freaking nick names and not the games and record of the Pades because it's that bad. I think they need to get a life size poster of Someones hot wife and start ripping off peices of clothing with each win A La "Major League".
