This is so sick. With 4 games left:
NL West is separated by 1 game.
NL East is separated by 1 game.
NL Central is separated by 2 games.
NL Wild Card is separated by 1 game between three teams.
And after Thursday, no one will have clinched either (no team with a magic number of 1.)
Suppose the Mets and Phillies finish tied with the same record in the NL East, AND the Phillies and Padres finish tied with the same record for the NL Wild Card, thefore the Mets and Phillies would have to play a 163rd game to decide the division (since the division takes precedence over the Wild Card). If the Phillies lose that game, the Padres are automatically in, since the Phillies would then be 0.5 games out.
And meanwhile, every team in the AL has been decided for months.
