Padres acquire Milton Bradley -
06-28-2007, 10:45 PM
SignOnSanDiego.com > San Diego Padres -- Padres acquire outfielder Milton Bradley
The Padres have tentatively acquired outfielder Milton Bradley from the Oakland Athletics. As part of the trade, the Padres will send a minor league pitcher to Oakland. Bradley, a switch-hitter, could join the Padres on Sunday at Dodger Stadium. Bradley, 29, is a career .271 hitter who has hit as many as 19 home runs in a season (Los Angeles, 2004). Injured much of this season, he had played in only 19 games for the A's, batting .292 with two homers and seven RBI. Bradley, who has also played for Montreal and Cleveland, has had injury problems and has also lost time to personal problems. The Dodgers suspended him for the last week of the 2004 season.
Bradley, a Los Angeles native, attended Long Beach Poly, the same high school te produced Tony Gwynn.

I think I like this acquisition, depending on 2 things.
- who the minor league player is
- whether or not they can keep Milton in line

I was expecting this.
Typical KT move.
Improving the Team one small step at a time
The Dodgers have done the same from their AAA Team......we don't have that luxury.
Will be interesting with Bradley returning "against" the Dodgers.
He's the kind of guy who gets fired up for such things.
Would love to see a couple bombs and a guy thrown out at home!

I keep hearing that it was A Brown.......if so, I'm not a big fan of this deal unless he comes in and is an offensive jaugernaut, which he can be
Bring back the Chicken !!

Kinda ironic if you ask me, considering that he drove himself outta LA before going to Oakland. But I wish the best of luck to Milton. He sure is one heckuva player.

Not really true....it helps us dump one of the turds currently taking up a roster spot.....it also helps by sending the rest of the turds back to the bench where they belong .....
He is a better overall player than Cruz, Sledge, Boca & Branyan so it's an upgrade......high reward low risk scenario

I really like Bradley as a player, but he is such a douchebag and such a cancer that he's got a much better chance to destroy a team than to help it.

When was the last time he had a flameout ? When was the last time someone went nutz on the Padres ? He's coming to the most laid back team/community, to a contender, and is playing for his baseball career maybe......I would think we'll see the best he's got for the remainder of the season....
If the FO makes a major move to get say......Dunn.......then thats the kind of situation I could see him going nuts over

the last time he had an issue was the day before he got DFA'd by the A's. They told him he was going to have decreased playing time so he started throwing chairs around the clubhouse. So clearly nothing has changed for him.

It is, indeed, for Andrew Brown

I hope it works out. At least they didn't get rid of a reliever on the major league squad.
