Fine by me. Instead of being content with another one-and-done showing in the playoffs, missing the playoffs would make for a huge wake up call.

You'd rather your team miss the playoffs then lose in the 1st round? That's more of a disappointment/slap in the face than a wake up call. To guys, like the ones on the Dodgers, that lack the postseason experience, it'd be nothing of a wake up call

I can recall that it wasn't any more of a disappointment/slap in the face to not make the playoffs than it was to get steamrolled by the Cardinals or the Mets in the first round.

Also, postseason experience is overrated. It is simply a matter of either your players do what it takes to win games in October or they don't.

I don't know about that.
Since you used the word "overrated" (as opposed to meaningless) i'm inclined to agree with you, because I do think people put more weight on it than they should.
That being said, I don't fully agree with the assessment that "It is simply a matter of either your players do what it takes to win games in October or they don't"
Human nature comes into play. Someone who's never been there before could get nervous because of the added pressure of the games and let it effect his play, then come back the next season having been there before...allowing himself to play to his abilities much more.
I realize they're professionals and shouldn't let that get to them, but I can see it happening for a guy who's there for the first time.
That said, I've never been in an MLB locker room so I don't know if I'm talking out of my ass now or not.

Ah geez, we were in first for how many weeks??? They take first for one day and your giving them the division, and we havent even played half the season yet, come on???
This should be real interesting though when we are playing within our own division starting today...

Post-season experience is valuable when it's more than one series where a team gets squashed by an obviously superior team. And even then it's a bit overrated.
But the NL West race has to be the best in baseball...
Then out of fairness to the others you will be Slagathor.

AZ and no RJ will have a lasting effect on them.....and I think we'll see it down the stretch, when that thin rotation is dying

The Dbags are still in first, with two more games vs. the Bums and three games vs. Jim Tracy's Pirates.
