-Trade Giles & Linebrink ( while they still hold value )
-Get & Sign ARam or Soriano ( either one would do )
-Get Zito if you can but for no more than 12M/ year
-Get Mulder while he's cheap ( good risk IMO )
-sign Dave Roberts
-resign Piazza to a two year deal $4.5M/year ( saves $3.5M next in 07 )
-lock up AGon before his arbi year and avoid a potential disaster
-p/u Branyan's $1M option
-lock up CY
-lock up Hensley
-resign Cameron to a 3 year deal if you can... $5M/year ( saves $3M in 07 )
-Keep bench intact if possible.....
-I'll edit more later

Input ?

We had 34 ab's during that last game and we had 17 LOB, that is 50% if you didn’t catch it, we need at least 2 players who can get those base runners in. I think the only way we can address that is by making sure that we get a guy who can hit when we pick up our new third baseman. I know that goes against the powers at be philosophy, but power hitters strike out most of the time and that is not going to cut it. We could also pick up a bench utility player who can hit too; Bochy likes to rest people a lot so it would almost be like getting two hitters, even though only one would be a starter.

We also need some more lefties, Bergman said Wells would consider coming back if he got the "RIGHT OFFER FROM THE RIGHT TEAM", I am taking that to mean that he does not want to go back east again and as long as KT does not insult him, he would like to come back with the Pads. Wells, Embree and 1 more solid lefty melded into our current pitching staff and they become unbeatable.

They pull those little tweaks off this off-season and I think we go to the WS next year.

Zito is a righty ?
Mulder is a righty?

There are your two lefty guys that complete that rotation and make it the best rotation in MLB....

ARam is a power hitting, RBI machine.......With him at 3rd it shores up this offense almost instantly. Hell even Giles might start hitting again, instead of looking for a walk first

I think I agree with that now....After watching Peavy struggle as our "ace" I think he's better served with less on his shoulders that can get between his ears......

This should be in the Major League Baseball thread, God.

Definetly need to lock up AGon long term.
Swap Linebrink for a solid starter if you can't sign Zito.
Sign Ramirez.
Resign DRob, Branyan.

That human windmill is our best option as we sit at 3rd base.....so unless you upgrade that position, I'd get used to his name in the lineup.....plus along with those K's, if he's given 500 AB's.....he'll likely hit .230/ 30 / 90.....which sadly dwarfs our other 3bags

Ok guy how 'bout this for a longshot possiblity......Padres trade for ARod.....the Pads would be on the hook for about $8-9M/year and up to about $12M would still be worth it.....that's very reasonable, he would be under far less pressure here, and could shine again....playing SS or 3rd, whichever he was more comfortable playing now. If you plug him back in at SS then could you package up Greene, prospect pitcher and Linebrink for ARod?

If you can get him, and he plays SS for us, and he produces like he can, would Branyan be enough at 3rd ? Would you then just resign DR to leadoff?

LF--Roberts
2ND-Barfield
1ST-AGon
SS--ARod
C---Piazza/Bard
RF--Giles
CF--Cameron
3rd-Branyan ( be huge for him if he learns to take walks )
pitcher

Wow at this lineup guys....Is this really even possible ? If it is, it should leave us with money to get Zito, and sign all our players!!!

Peavy did fine as the staff ace last year.

His struggles were due mainly to injuries he was playing through, he'll be fine.

(Not that i'm opposed to signing Zito should the opportunity arise.)
