2007's Opening Week: The Surprising Hits
 by Fishercat
This article will focus on the most surprising players of the first week of the season. Included amongst them are a Royals pitcher (but not Greinke), a Japanese import (but not Matsuzaka), and an entire bullpen (okay, this one is more predictable).

Opening Day: A Closer Look
by browntown653
 by browntown653
Is there a better day in baseball than Opening Day? Sure, for one team’s fans the last game of the World Series is tremendous, but Opening Day means a fresh start, a new hope, and the arrival of a new season for each and every one of the 30 teams. It’s the first time “Enter Sandman” blasts through the Yankee Stadium loudspeakers, “Hells Bells” through the Petco Park loudspeakers, and “Rape Me” through the Tampa Bay ones…

Strike3Forums.com Turns Two
Terrible Two's, Here We Come
 by Strike3Forums.com
Its year two on Strike3Forums.com and I must say that it is quite awesome to say that. Some believed two years ago that we wouldn't last, that we were a joke. So we decided to start the forums up on April 1st, April Fool's Day, as some kind of ironic touch to the creation of the site. Well, two years later and we're still standing strong and I all have to say to the naysayers is when is this imminent doom coming? Because two years and a couple hundred thousand posts seems to argue in our favor.

Opening Day: Its about time!
King Felix, Ballpark Food and a Bus Trip... Sign Me Up.
 by Porter99
It's been 6 months since the Cardinals celebrated their World Series victory. Now that all the preseason chatter is over, the hoopla of who's going to finish where, its time to make the games count. I grabbed my ticket and got ready to go to Safeco Field for their 30th anniversary game against the hated Oakland A's. As I got on the bus to the stadium, all you could see was 55 or so fans in a sea...

Doctor, Is Optimism A Normal Symptom for A Fan of A Losing Team?
Opening Day can bring upon WEIRD feelings... like actually looking forward to the rest of the season.
 by missionhockey21
Opening Day is a great experience regardless of your team affiliation. The winter months are long and arduous, especially the period in between the Winter Meetings in December and the time which pitchers and catchers report to camp in February. These months are made even longer if you are a fan of a team who didn’t make the playoffs, made longer once again if you realized your team was officially...

Won't Someone Please Think of The Children? Let's Eliminate Chatter.
"Hey batter batter, hey batter batter, are your feelings hurt yet?"
 by missionhockey21
This article will not provide deep insights into Major League Baseball or provide information about some grandiose large scale baseball event in the world, but rather a new rule for little leaguers in the Knothole Club in Cincinnati. These boys will still be able to play the game we all know and love, but there will be a factor missing, chatter. In other words, no more “Hey batter batter, hey...

Josh Hamilton: A Great Story Regardless of Having Any Connection With Baseball
Is being out of the game three years enough to doom him?
 by missionhockey21
There is no question that the baseball world has been consumed with Josh Hamilton’s story this spring, the question mark that is lingering over Josh Hamilton’s head is whether this is all one giant fluke or some indication of what he might be able to do.
Most baseball fans are aware of the...

The Big Three: Now and Then
NEW YORK CITY, New York (Strike3Forums.com) -- On December 9th, 1992, the Atlanta Braves signed former Cubs pitcher and Cy Young winner Greg Maddux, assembling the most effective starter trio of all time. Maddux, Tom Glavine, and John Smoltz combined for 453 wins and 65 saves (All for Smoltz) between 1993 and 2002, when Glavine departed for the Mets. Arguably the best 10 year stretch for any...

Lou Piniella named new Cubs manager - but is it the right move?
http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/9984/piniellatw1.jpgAs the season ended, and another year of disappointment came to a bubble in Wrigleyville as the post season began, whispers about a new manager and replacement for Dusty Baker whose contract was not extended came into fruition. Talk spread throughout the papers, online message boards, blogs, and every other outlet a Cubs fan or beat writer...

A long time comin'

The Colts won the Super Bowl.
Tony Dungy becomes the first black...ahem, excuse me African-American coach to win the big game.
The talks of Peyton being perhaps the greatest QB are now in full gear since he has fulfilled his conquest in winning the game.
