What is Zoints and how does this effect daily life on S3F? (Short answer version) -

Zoints is a brand new social network built by other community leaders to help promote and develop the diverse communities of the internet. Why? Well, if you have been a member here for awhile, you can tell most of our members for the most part falls in the age range of 16-26, a prime age range for one to be involved in myspace. Myspace has been hurting online communities because it is essentially 'another world.' Zoints ties in your online communities with your social network, so hopefully you can give it a chance and tell your friends about it. From what I understand, as they officially open (we were lucky to be selected to the Beta test), they will have contests with cash winnings as well.
How does this effect daily life on S3F? Very little. Other than people wanting to talk about ways to improve their zoints page, having questions in this forum, etc.... not much. It modifies the forum software very little and it's not required to use at all. You can continue using your current S3F profile and that's fine. There are some optional PM notifications we may or may not use for awhile to help notify people on Zoints since some people only check a couple of forums, but those will not be enabled forever. So other than seeing another profile link, and getting an occasional PM for a bit, if you aren't into it that will be the most it effects you.
How can this effect S3F? In a pretty big way assuming others do their job. We will be opened up to many other communities and if you can help us by giving Zoints a chance and advertising S3F in your profile, we can hopefully grow which I think is what all of us want. I like to think we're the most promising baseball forum on the net (and that credit is owed to you guys), so hopefully we can get the advertising needed to promote ourselves to a wider audience all while participating in what I consider to be a potentially revolutionary network system, Zoints.
