Who is more likely to catch Bonds? -
07-18-2007, 02:16 PM
This is a very unique debate because 2 of the guys are still very young, 2 are in the prime or about to be in their prime, and 1 is nearing the end of his career but is still ahead of Bonds pace at age 37.

A-Rod will catch him, and then Pujols will catch A-Rod.

Prince Fielder has the most pure power of the bunch. He could catch Pujols.

I choose A-Rod, with Pujols a VERY close 2nd. Outside chance pick would be Fielder. I juct choose the other two players over him because they usualy hit for a higher average.

Frank Thomas! After all, he just hit his prime a couple years ago at age 37...

Thomas is also 60 HRs behind Bonds pace.

Had to go with Pujols and Arod as it was who CAN catch Bonds. I see problems for the big guys Fielder and Howard. Hard to keep fat bodies healthy for a lengthy career.
Giants > Padres
Pathetic Stat of the Year- Matt Cain has a 3.70 career ERA, but has won just 29 of his 95 starts.

If the question is that who will be next in line to catch Bonds, I would say Griffey, based on these things.
-Stays healthy and consistantly hit 40+ homeruns
-Moves to the AL and becomes a DH

I went with ARod. Don't care for him but he is young and already past 400 HRs.

prince? no chance.
howard? no chance.
Pujols? has a good shot, needs to stay away from mid career injuries like Thomas and Griffey, likely fall short due to his size and the problems that come with it (he has feet problems, just like thomas did)
Griffey probably has 2 good years left, and will probably end up with somewhere in the willie mays area.
Arod, now. He's always been healthy, and hes always been consistently above 35 homers. And hes still young. He would have the best chance

A-Rod will catch Bonds and will then be caught by Albert Pujols.
