ok, enough is enough. llyod has got to go. it obvious during his time as mananger the team never got any better, in fact i would say they took a step back in of all things fundamentals. i don't think we should wait to the end of the season to judge llyod, can his sorry ass now!

I have to agree here. McLendon has not really done anything impressive. I have not been paying attention to the Pirates lately, but it sounds like they need a shakeup. This could be the one that would help them the most.

I thought the Pirates might contend this year, and it looks like I was wrong. Firing McLendon, as redsrbetter said, might give them a spark.

No way the Pirates were gonna contend with the Cards. I thought the Pirates would play better as I think they have, just not lately. What happened to Mark Redman? Trade talks start and he goes to shit. Daryl Ward has disappeared in July. Trade Lawton or sign him quickly and get that over with. Lawton says he would like to stay and McClendon might have something to do with that.

2008 Giants > Padres

Pathetic Stat of the Year- Matt Cain has a 3.74 career ERA, but has won just 30 of his 104 starts.

Yep you guys have to keep Lawton around IMO. He is a very underrated player who may have that franchise capability. I am not sure what is up with Redman either. But like you said, he has fallen off and really ruined a good chance to get a good return in a deal with moving him.

lawton? no way he's an overpriced idiot. he makes way too many fundamental mistakes, and he's too old. put some young kid out there instead.

Exactly.

Lloyd has to go.

Mesa has to go.
Lawton has to go.
Redman has to go.
Ward has to go.

Period.

Let's let Gonzalez close, throw Eldred at first and use a young outfielder in right.

Lawton is not a player to build a franchise around... not even close. The Pirates already have that player and his name is Jason Bay. He's almost 34 and he's extremely overpriced. Just because he has produced a bit doesn't mean it justifies a near eight million dollar salary.

the way i look at it, the pirates have about 8 guys that are "keepers"

1. bay
2. perez
3. duke
4. burnett
5. eldred, who just got called up.
6. castillo
7. dummit
8. maybe jack wilson, but not too sure.

the rest of the roster is a collection of stiffs, not worth their weight in gold.
