According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Freddy Sanchez "is on schedule to be fully mended by early December" after undergoing arthroscopic shoulder surgery in late September.
The newspaper reports that "he's planning a rigorous offseason of workouts." Barring a setback, Sanchez will be healthy well in advance of spring training.

After resting since tendinitis in his right knee caused him to miss the final week of the season, Jason Bay said Sunday that the knee is feeling "great."
Bay added that he expects there to be "no issue at all" by the time he reports for spring training. Bay's knee problems worsened as the year went on and clearly played a big part in his disappointing season, so heading into 2008 with a clean slate could have a big impact.

After deciding against "minor cleanup surgery" on his sore left knee, Adam LaRoche "has gone six weeks with no swelling."
Surgery has not been ruled out completely, but LaRoche is expected to be ready for spring training either way.

After meeting with Dr. James Andrews, John Grabow has been told that he'll be able to avoid elbow surgery.
Grabow has been resting the elbow since the end of the season and has been cleared to begin throwing Saturday. "The elbow is fine," Grabow said
Great news for Pirates fans knowing Bay doesn't need surgery. LaRoche sounds like the iffy situation. If he needs surgery, better to do it now. Good to see Sanchez will be able to start workouts on time. He proved to us all that he was no fluke in '06.

2008 Giants > Padres

Pathetic Stat of the Year- Matt Cain has a 3.74 career ERA, but has won just 30 of his 104 starts.

Yeah, it's definately good to here we'll be close to 100% going in to ST. I figured Bay would be fine, and he probably would've played, had the last week of games mattered any.

Grabow is probably the biggest risk here, because he's going to end up with surgery before it's over anyway, so he might as well get it done now.
