...or so says my friend John. He is the best person at making sports predictions I have ever seen and constantly makes crazy predictions that me and my friends laugh at only to see him get them right. His best was predicting Giacomo would win the Kentucky Derby - in January of that year. He went off at 60-1 odds or so and won it. He always does crazy things, like betting money on the Lions beating the Falcons or Spain winning the FIBA Championships, we always laugh at him and he gets them right. And now...

He says (brace yourself) the Pirates are going to win the NL Central and go to the World Series. He says they have a lot of young talent ready to break out and will win a weak division.

...I think he's completely out of his mind this time...but he said he will never make another prediction if he gets this one wrong.

So there is hope.

Sorry bro, but your friend is an idiot. No way the Pirates break .500 this year, let alone win the NL Central, two playoff rounds and get to the WS. Never gonna happen.

Oh, I told him I think this is the dumbest prediction he's ever made. I would give it 99% odds of being wrong. But he say he's basing his prediction legacy on this and he wants me to tell everyone.

Well, I predicted the Pirates to be my Dark horse in the NL this year!!!

I know they have lots of quality young players, and if they get any pitching (consistent) they will make some noise, especially in the weak NL Central. I mean, my beloved Brewers could NOT take advantage of every team in the Central having a loosing month of May. They have allowed the other teams in the NL Central to hang around. The Pirates are dangerous and if they can play like they did in the second half of 2006, they are going to be right there. It is NOT all the outrageous for them to win the Central!!!
