I found it very surprising to see that the high-powered Phillies got shut out by Jon Lester tonight; they are the team most likely to score 20 runs in one game, no one else is even close. That being said, it's only the 4th time this year that the Phillies have been shut out. The three other times? Once by Edinson Volquez and twice by Tim Redding.

Lester can be fantastic in several outings in a row and then really be iractic in the next few. He is still young and developing, but he does have the pitching mechanics to throw a gem even against a high powered offense like the Phils every so often.
