OAKLAND -- Of all the potential trade destinations for Barry Zito, and there are many, only the Mets possess the key that could unlock the missing Cy Young pitcher imprisoned inside him. That man is Rick Peterson, Zito's former pitching coach with the Athletics, and their relationship in Oakland was at the very least a contributing factor to his Cy Young season in 2002.

Why the hell would we trade Zito after trading Hudson AND Mulder???? It doesn't make any sense to me. Might as well have kept one of those two if Zito was just gonna be traded later...

What kind of veteran leadership will we have in the rotation without Zito? I don't like the idea of a rotation full of kids at all.

Well, if I were Zito and I didn't get traded I would hit the FA market ASAP what with the way Beane has been running this team as well as his lack of run support. JMHO.

According to the New York Post, the Yankees best option to upgrade their pitching could be Colorado's Jason Jennings. The newspaper said New York really isn't interested in San Francisco's Jason Schmidt and Oakland's Barry Zito and Pittsburgh's Kip Wells probably won't be available.
