Wang vs Eveland
Wang has really been struggling as of late. In fact, he's gone winless in his past six starts, posting a 6.45 ERA during that span. He has been successful in the past in Oakland and is looking to use that to help him turn things around. Eveland is coming off two consecutive starts in which he lasted just 4 1/3 innings. In his last start against Detroit, Eveland allowed three runs on three hits, but it was the seven walks and 85 pitches that caused his early departure. He has never faced the Yankees before, and is looking to make this start a memorable one.

Rasner vs Duchscherer
In Rasner's last start, he was the hard-luck loser as the Yankees lost 2-1 to the Royals on Friday. He threw a career-high 118 pitches over eight innings, but will not be on any sort of pitch count. Duke was hit in the wrist in his previous start against Detroit, but was able to bounce back and pitch another scoreless inning despite a bad bruise. He's never started against the Yankees before, but is 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA, all in relief.

Pettitte vs Blanton
Pettitte pitched possibly his worst game ever in his last start, allowing 10 runs on 10 hits, but getting a ND. He had problems with pitch location which cost him the game, so if our hitters are patient we might be able to put this game away early. Blanton pitched seven strong innings, allowing only two earned runs, but Lacke bested him, pitching seven stronger innings and allowing only one run. It was his second straight loss. He has never fared well against the Yankees, and is 0-2 with a 9.39 ERA, which, no matter how bad it sounds, is better than Pettitte's 5-5, 4.99 ERA.
The A's are coming off an amazing win against the Angels on Sunday and are looking to bring that momentum into this series. In other news - Sweeney will be having arthroscopic surgery to clean out his knee and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks...Thomas is eligable to come off the DL in a few days, but will most likely remain on the DL for atleast another week...and I am hoping to be at games 2 and 3 of this series. Screw finals, I'm gonna see a ballgame!
