Rogers vs Harden
Kenny Rogers has killed us everytime he has faced ...
Kenny Rogers has killed us everytime he has faced us at home. In fact, the Tigers purposely pushed back his start a day because of his 25-4 record at McAfee (some of those starts coming while he was an Athletic). He's coming off of one of his best starts even though he got a ND. He pitched seven scoreless innings and proved that he still has what it takes to compete. Harden completed seven innings for just the second time this year, scattering five hits and five K's while allowing only one run. He was outdueled by Toronto's Roy Halladay however, despite pitching his third career game without a walk.

Willis vs Eveland
This will be Willis' first start since returning from the DL after he hyperextended his right knee back in April. He's being platooned with Galarraga (if that's even possible with pitchers), and he will replace Willis upon his departure from the game. Eveland pitched his worst game by far against the Jays in his last start, allowing seven runs on 11 hits over 4 1/3 innings - his shortest outing of the season. Hopefully he can regain his form against the Tigers, a team he has never faced before.

Robertson vs Duchscherer
Robertson was battling flu-like symptoms in his last outing and managed to last 5 2/3 innings in a win against the Mariners. He is 0-3 with a 6.12 ERA in four regular-season starts vs Oakland, and if numbers hold true to form then he shouldn't be seeing and relief anytime soon. Duke continues to pitch well as a starter. He allowed just two runs in six innings in a 3-1 loss to the Rangers on Friday. He has never allowed more than three runs in a start and looks to keep that the way it is against Detroit.
Oakland native Dontrelle Willis will be making his first start back from the DL in his hometown. Hopefully we can channel our sudden explosions of offense and score some runs in these next three games, because we could really use a series win.

The A's offense has been either fantastic one day and show nothing the next. They really need to be more consistent of an offense. They have some very good pitching and that could keep down the under achieving huge offense of the Tigers. This series could be a big boost for the A's. Like HCG said Dontrelle's game is key. Let's see how he performs in game two because he does have lights out stuff when he is on.

A's are currently leading 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth. Harden has allowed only one hit thus far. He's really on his game tonite. Hopefully we can add on some insurance runs in this inning against Rogers.

Daric Barton homered in the last inning to tie the game. 2-2 in the bottom of the eigth, with Rogers still in the game. Harden left after 6 2/3 after allowing two runs on five hits. Bummer he'll get an ND, but atleast we've tied it up.

Winning run on second base in the form of Suzuki courtesy of a nice sacrafice by Hannahan. Crosby's at bat. Chavvy is on deck. And the tension continues to mount.

Harden had 8Ks through 6 2/3 innings. He's looking better and better with every start. One can only hope that he can continue to pitch so dominatly. And guess what? Kenny Rogers finally lost at the Coliseum! That hasn't happened since...well since a long time ago.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure we've won every game Harden has pitched since he came off the DL. I'll try not to get too excited but he's definitely helping keep us in it this month.
