Duchscherer vs Millwood
The Ranger's Millwood is going to be making ...
The Ranger's Millwood is going to be making his first start since coming off the DL, so you can expect him to be on a pitch count. Lifetime he is 3-3 with a 4.29 ERA vs Oakland. Duke tossed probably the best start of his career in his last outing against the Red Sox. He carried a no-hitter into the seventh until David Ortiz broke it up with a one-out single. He and Street combined on a 3-0 one-hitter, arguably the A's best pitching performance all year.

Blanton vs Feldman
Scott Feldman has pitched into the sixth inning in all of his six starts, but his team is just 1-5 in those games. The longball has been his kryptonite, so if the A's can launch one we may get this game. Blanton finally won his first home victory of the season, a 6-3 victory over the Sox. This will be his second start against the Ragers this season. In his last start he allowed two runs on seven hits through seven innings, but was the hard-luck loser as the A's dropped that game 4-3.
6-1-08
Smith vs Ponson
Hey everyone, it's Sir Sidney! In his last start, Ponson got his first loss of the year after allowing 12 hits in five innings against Tampa Bay. In his last start against Oakland, he allowed four first-inning runs, but then settled down and ended up leaving the game with a ND. Smith broke his personal four-game losing streak after getting a 3-1 win over the Jays. Most if not all of those four games should have been wins for us, but our offense seems to go into sleep mode whenever he's on the mound. Hopefully we can score some runs and help our pitcher(s) out in this game/series.
This is a weird roadtrip for the A's...only three games. Then they head back home to face the Tigers, Angels, and Yankees. It's like a detour on the map...anyways I'm hoping for a series win. Hamilton has scorching numbers against us, so keeping him out of the pitcure is going to have to be a priority. And with Thomas and potentially both Sweeneys out of the lineup, we may be a bit short-handed in some of these games. But hopefully we can pull away with a series win.

Duke pitched a solid six innings, allowing only two runs, but Millwood bested him. We dropped the first game 3-1. Our offense has taken a huge blow; check out all the roster moves that were made:
-DH/1B Mark Sweeney was placed on the 15-day DL (retroactive 5-29) with left knee inflammation
-OF Ryan Sweeney was placed on the 15-day DL (retroactive 5-29) with a left toe contusion
-RHP Joey Devine was placed on the 15-day DL (retroactive 5-26) with right elbow inflammation
-RHP Kiko Calero was activated from the 60-day DL
-OF Carlos Gonzalez was recalled from Sacramento
-OF Travis Buck was recalled from Sacramento
-RHP Brad Ziegler was recalled from Sacramento
-Designated LHP Lenny DiNardo for assignment
-Designated INF Kevin Melillo for assignment
This whole DL thing is getting out of hand. Nine roster moves in one day?! That's how many move happen over the course of two weeks for some teams! Hopefully we can make the most of it and get a win tonite behind Blanton. Looks to be a strange rest of the series. And rest of the month for that matter.

Guess what everybody?
We lost.
Yes, we lost again. This time 8-4. Blanton couldn't to get a shutdown inning even if his life depended on it, and in the end that was probably the main reason that we didn't get a win. Travis Buck looked good today, helping our streaky offense with a 2-run single in the fifth, but Blanton couldn't hold the tie and gave it back up the next half inning. He made Sidney Ponson look reeeaaal good today, which is embarassing. We have got to salvage tomorrow's game, because it's not going to get any easier to do so once we come home.

Well they're currently leading 2-0 in the fourth. Hannahan just doubled for our first hit of the game. Smith is starting to settle down, so hopefully we can score some runs for him.
