Lidge is 2-1 with a 2.27 ERA, but has no saves...however if the A's were to acquire him, I don't think he'd be used as a closer. Embree has been doing pretty well until as of late, and Street will be out only 1-2 more weeks. Then again, he could be put in as a closer if the situation calls for a righty as opposed to a lefty.

Yup. Kendall has gone to the Cubbies, and in return we recieved catcher Rob Bowen and minor league reliever Jerry Blevins...I wonder if this is a sign of things to come...

Thank you Chicago.
Screw it Billy this is some fuggin bullchiat. Blow it up and keep Haren, Fatso, Gaudin, Street, Cassilla (sp?), Swisher, Chavez (for now), Ellis (for now) and Cust (for now). IMO everyone else is trade bait.

Street threw a rehab inning at Sacramento last night striking out 2 in a scoreless inning. It looks like he'll be activated tomorrow.
Loaiza is supposed to pitch 2 simulated games this week before going on a rehab assignment with Sacramento. It looks like he'll be back in August to make a start.
Swisher is day-to-day with a bruised shoulder from Friday's game.

Oh God I've missed a lot. Sorry if I'm out of it for a few days...lot happening. Ok let me get this straight. So it's Duke, Harden, Loaiza, Chavez (woah...never knew that happened), Crosby, Denorfia, and Snelling all on the DL, am I correct? Wait and then Lugo is back, as is Furmaniak and Murphy...damn I've got a lot of catching up to do.
But he has since had surgery to remove a bone-chip from his left shoulder and was 6-2 with a 3.40 ERA in 19 starts with Sacramento this season. His ERA was third among all Pacific Coast League pitchers.
It appears he has healed from that surgery and hopefully he'll have the rest of the year to show the A's he's ready to be a part of the puzzle for next season.
Braden was sent down BTW.

Yup. The article that I read in the paper this morning said that he was one of the candidates for the start vs the Royals on Friday, but I just checked the probable pitchers and it said that Loaiza was going to be the starting pitcher, even though he hasn't officially been activated from the DL. So it looks like Meyer will be in the bullpen for now. Back in '04 he was one of the best prospects...I have faith in him that he can still have success in the majors. Who knows-we may even see him in tonite's game.

Meyer won't be in the pen...at least not if the A's are smart...no way did they call him up to relieve. If he has a future with us, it's as a starter...not a mopup reliever
