As long as Street is our closer we won't win anything. We might be lucky and make playoffs. But we will get knocked out first round again. This guy is not going to be a good closer. He's a middle relief guy at best. Beane needs to figure out a way to trade for a closer or it will be a long season.

Little bit quick to jump there, seeing as that's only his third blown save in eleven opportunities. He's struggling but we're through a little under 1/3rd of the season. And heck, he's TWENTY THREE.

If you hate Huston Street that much, spell his name right on the trade form and ship him to the White Sox. It's always nice to add a great bullpen talent to an otherwise set team.

He's been struggling all year. He's blowing big leads and small leads. When your closer has an ERA around 5.00 it's time to think about making a change. He doesn't have the stuff to be a good closer. All you have to do is lay off his slider. His fastball isn't fast enough to blow by people. His change up is suspect.

I'm gonna wait a little bit to say he's not good enough this year because he was injured and missed 2 weeks...he's still working his way back into top shape...but he definitely hasn't been doing as well as I had hoped...

Street is only part of the problem IMO. This entire team needs a gut check and they need it soon.

Macha also misuses Street (and other pitchers) by either bringing him in too early, leaving him in too long, and so on.

I don't think it's been so bad. They're lucky they are where they are right now, considering the crazy amount of injuries. Ellis just went on the DL today...how many is that now?

Since this topic was made, Huston Street has been fantastic.

In the month of June:
8 appearances
9.1 IP
2 hits
1 walk
10 strikeouts
7 saves
7 save opportunities

Just felt like pointing that out.

He's saved 5 games in a row, too. The last Indians game, the entire Yankees series, and last night against the M's. He's healthy now and the pen is starting to sort itself out.

Yea he has been good since I started this post. I'm still nervous when he comes in. I will admit he impressed me last night. That was a very difficult save to get. I wander if I start a thead on Crosby if he will start hitting.

I hate seeing this topic. I keep think of Houston Street in NYC (house-ton) because his name is Huston. But that is because I am an idiot.
