NEW YORK -- The Orioles took advantage of Mike Mussina's shaky 2007 debut to log their first win of the young season, posting a 6-4 victory over the Yankees on Friday at Yankee Stadium.
Working on seven days' rest, Mussina gave up six runs on eight hits in four innings, with Nick Markakis slugging a two-run double and Jay Gibbons adding a two-run single to highlight Baltimore's attack.

Corey Patterson stroked an RBI double in the three-run third, and the Orioles tacked on a sixth run against Mussina in the fourth. Melvin Mora singled -- one of his three hits -- stole second and came home on Aubrey Huff's RBI single to center.

Mussina walked three and struck out four in the effort, hitting a batter, before being relieved by left-hander Sean Henn, who blanked the Orioles over three innings.

The Yankees scored twice against Orioles left-hander Adam Loewen, who worked five innings and scattered five hits as he picked up the victory.

Alex Rodriguez opened the second inning with a double to left and scored on Hideki Matsui's one-out single to left-center. New York tied the game when Robinson Cano doubled into the right-field corner, scoring Matsui, and Cano collected a second RBI with a single off John Parrish in the sixth.

The Yankees could have had more runs, loading the bases with one out in the third against Loewen, but Jason Giambi broke his bat popping up to second base and Matsui bounced out. New York added a fourth run on Derek Jeter's bases-loaded single off Jamie Walker in the seventh.
Another ugly game as the Yanks fall to 1-2. By far too many missed chances against Adam Loewen and the rest of the Orioles pitching. Mussina pitched bad, Henn did a great job in relief though.
