Padres were still not in last when they played the Mets, the Rockies were. I don;t think they can turn it around with what they have right now which is why I wrote what I wrote. If they don't make changes with how poor they have been playing, its safe to say they won't win 80 games. They are lucky that the Phillie and Marlins don;t have the starting pitching to pull away.

Pathetic Stat of the Year- Matt Cain has a 3.70 career ERA, but has won just 29 of his 95 starts.

Ok, as it turns out, you're correct. I thought the Padres had been in last, but I was wrong. I don't know if I completely agree with you, because it's not "safe to say" they won't win 80 games.....but if those changes aren't made, its certainly more possible than should be for this roster

Its just really hard to see them winning 80 games right now.

Well, despite their 5 game losing streak, and assuming that they stay this bad....which is hard to say, if Church comes back and Pedro can stay healthy, they should pick up the pace a bit....they would finish right now at 77 wins, so those guys being healthy can easily boost it over 80

Not really, the ifs ands and buts apply to the likelihood of the Mets winning less than 80. Right now they're on pace for 77. That's with Ryan Church missing much of the year now, Pedro and Alou missing all but 16 games(combined), and no production from Delgado or Beltran. The odds are things can't get much worse

Johan could go down. That would be worse. Let's hope that doesn't happen.

Yeah, and Barry Zito COULD give up 0 ER the rest of the year. Doesn't mean it's likely. Johan's pretty durable.

You said it couldn't get worse and I showed how it could. Relax.

I'm calm, but I meant realistically, as I'm sure you know. So, I'm not convinced this team is that bad. My reaction was mainly frustration. So, I think this team still has plenty of time, and plenty of games against the division rivals. But they have to turn it around ASAP
