Gomez hits first homer of the spring, Twins win 11-2 vs Phillies. Nice to see Gomez hitting the ball, he should be our starting center fielder. I just hope he runs out all hit balls. Gardy got on him once this spring if it happens again minor league Gomez will go. Twins could be a surprise team this season, were playing good this spring.

The Twins have some very good athletes on their roster. Currently, they have 33 players listed on the "active" roster, meaning they have 8 cuts to make over the next couple of weeks. Of the guys on the roster, I expect to see Bass, Blackburn, Humber, Cali, Tolbert, Priddie and Span get sent to AAA or possibly lower in the case of Priddie or Span as both are CFs and both need regular work there.
It is nice to see Gomez hitting better. His strength is his speed, although he is considered a decent power and average prospect.

It's good to see him hit the ball hard. His strength is his speed, yes, but one thing I did notice last week when they played the Yankees is that he struggled mightily to make a strong and accurate throw to the plate while on the run. One of his throws weren't even close.

Will his speed make up for the inaccuracy and/or strength of his arm?
