The only way this idea has any chance to work is if you guys were to bat someone 9th who would be like a 2nd leadoff hitter. For example. If my NY Mets were to do this, have Johan Santana his 8th, but put someone like Luis Castillo or Endy Chavez 9th, where their job(like a leadoff hitter) would be simply to get on base and run, and then have Jose Reyes to do the same thing, with the big hitters coming up with 2 fast runners, that COULD work. But this, I'm sorry, is just stupid.

Yeah, I understant that pjiosophy, but I would rather not experiment with this idea unless the Brewers bat a prototypical leadoff leader there, as you mentioned. But with Kendall being the possibity as the #9 hitter, either way, it is pretty mush an automatic 2 outs.

Yost is going to start the season with Kendall batting 9th. He is convinces that this will help more times than not.
Man, I sure hope he knows what the hell he is doing. I still have mixed feelings about this. Yost does realuze the Brewers are in the NL, and not the AL.

I'll be interested to see this. I think there is a small chance that it could work out extremely well, but I don't know if the risk of it failing is worth it. Good luck guys!

IMO, Yost is just steeing up Hardy and/or Hall to get pitched around and take the bat out of more productive hitters this way. Kendall is not the hitter he once was, so basically you are putting more pressure on Hardy and/or Hall and that usually results in less production. I could understand if he was going to do this with a stacked lineup, but the Brewers may have agood line up, but the bottom is not necessarily stacked when Kendall is in the lineup. He doesn't even steal bases like he did when he was younger. If he going to be better behind the plate, I can live with that, and that is his job. IF Yost wants to bat the pitcher in the 8th spot, how about this for a lineup then:
2B Weeks
C Kendall
1B Fielder
LF Braun
RF Hart
3B Hall
SS Hardy
P Sheets. Suppan/Bush/Villanueva/Parra
CF Gywnn, Jr
Kendall in the 2 hole makes more sense for me. He claims he will do whatever it takes to win, so how about the teams official bunter. Look at many NL teams that are successful, their #2 hitter is like another lead-off type guy, but he can bunt, take a pitch, take a walk, spray the ball, hit to the opposite site, make contact. But teams now a-days just want to bash HR after HR every game. And the brewers found out the hard last year, they cant do that, and will have stretches have difficulty scoirng runs at times. So, they need to do a better job of manufactoring runs (Kendall in the 2 hole). Man, I need to be the manager of the Brewers.

So day, Yost decides to bat the pitcher in the 9th spot. I guess he has no faith in Parra and/or anyone else in the lineup today.

his is the situation I have been referring to about batting the pitcher 8th. 2 on, no outs and Hardy is up to bat. The will pitch around him to get to the pitcher. If Yost is going to continue with this, Kendall needs to be consistent with his hitting and make the other team pay for it.

Yost decided on Sunday to flip-flop Fielder and Braun in the batting order. This moves returns Braun to the 3 hole and Fielder batting cleanup. Lets see if this jump starts the two of them. Fingers are crossed here.
