Chance at history -
10-04-2008, 04:38 PM
The Phillies currently lead the Brewers 2 games to 0.
The Dodgers currently lead the Cubs 2 games to 0.
The Red Sox currently lead the Angels 2 games to 0.
The Rays currently lead the White Sox 2 games to 0.
Never in the history of baseball, since the onset of the wild card, has all 4 series in the opening round of the playoffs ended in a sweep.

Not since 1993 have two #1 seeds made the Super Bowl. Never argue against a "retarded theory".
Counting down to: The end of Andruw Jones's contract with the Dodgers:
n = [log (($17 million amount deferred x .02754 interest daily periodic rate)/30 days in cycle) - log ($5 million base x .02514 interest nominal periodic rate/162 games prorated in cycle)]/log (1+i)

The problem is, you use that "retarded theory" to predict the future when it's only backed up by the laws of statistics.
All 4 1 seeds have only made the final 4 once because of the statistical probability of that happening.
But that having been a fact doesn't lessen one #1 seed's odds of defeating another team (be it a 2 seed or whatever) just because the previous 3 #1 seeds have gotten in already.
You making an argument that the Chargers, for instance, have to hope the Bears lose otherwise they stand no chance is like me rolling a 6 with one die and claiming that it is downright impossible for me to roll a 6 with the other one.

My theory is backed up by the law of statistical probability. Your hopes are backed up by optimistic homerism. Screw the percentages. We can win! Yes we can! Yes we can!

My arguments are backed up by the fact that what one team does in one game has no bearing on another team's chances in a completely different game just because the two teams share the same number written next to them in the playoff charts.

Whatever. Chalk it up to pressure, big targets on their back, and whatever tangible source you like. All I know is that come playoff time, one #1 seed will manage to **** it up.
