Where do you stand now with your award picks? -
09-26-2008, 03:46 AM
Since I posted those polls, Quentin got hurt, Webb learned to suck, Ryan Howard went man beast on people, the mets continued to blow(that had nothing to do with anything other than the pure fun of it), Pujols is still Pujols and KRod holds a record. I personally think the only award that's wrapped up is the AL Cy, but knowing the weird tendencies by voters, KRod will pick up a lot of support and thus make things.. strange.
Who are your picks now for:
NL MVP
NL Cy Young
AL MVP
AL Cy Young

AL MVP: Quentin still
AL Cy: Cliff Lee
NL MVP: Pujols
NL Cy: Lincecum
Most Improved Player: Adrian Gonzalez hits 36 home runs! I remember when Baseball America said Jason Stokes was the sexier Marlins prospect because Gonzalez didn't hit for power.
NL West GM of the Year: Josh Byrnes for the 3rd consecutive year, still ballin' for real!
Counting down to: The end of Andruw Jones's contract with the Dodgers:
n = [log (($17 million amount deferred x .02754 interest daily periodic rate)/30 days in cycle) - log ($5 million base x .02514 interest nominal periodic rate/162 games prorated in cycle)]/log (1+i)

So that's why Adrian Gonzalez was traded 3 or 4 times. Man, Florida and Texas must be pissed.

NL MVP: Ryan Howard (47 HR and 142 RBI, his team is about to win the division)
NL Cy Young: Too close to call, depends on Sunday's start
AL MVP: Justin Morneau (can't give it to Quentin with only 130 games played, only one in September and his team is getting passed by the Twins in the race. Morneau has played every single game for Minnesota and is leading the league in RBI).
AL Cy Young: Cliff Lee

Who are your picks now for:
NL MVP -- its hard to give the award to someone hitting .248 and nearing 200 K's for the season, but Howard is the reason the Phillies are in the playoffs.
NL Cy Young -- tough call. Lincecum has done a nice job, and leads in K's. Webb leads the league in wins. Santana leads in ERA, with Lincecum by .02. I'll give it to Lincecum unless the Mets make it to the playoffs, and then it's Santana.
AL MVP -- As a Twins' fan, I'd like to say Morneau here, and if the Twins win it, he deserves another award, but Dustin Pedroia has led his team throughout the season. Pedroia leads the AL in runs scored and is hitting .325. He has driven in 83 runs as well.
AL Cy Young -- Cliff Lee has done a major turnaround in his career and should be the winner here without any question.

AL MVP: When Ortiz was out, Pedroia stepped up his game and like catman said his .325 average and runs scored are hard to pass up but what people don't know is he's also 20/21 in SB attempts which is very impressive. Quentin had it but he got hurt and the voters are "what have you done for me lately" people.
AL Cy Young: Cliff Lee, while he's not the best AL Pitcher (that distinction goes to halladay for the CG's) he does have the best record and era and will win in a landslide
NL MVP: Manny... I'm half joking and half serious... The Dodgers were reeling before he came in, and look what he's done since he been there... had he been traded in May like CC he'd be a real candidate... In all seriousness I'm going to go with TBD... Pujols had Ludwick, Howard had Utley... let me see what happens this weekend... CC is earning his way back into the conversation with his dominance on 3 days rest
NL MVP: Should be CC but it'll be lincecum cause he was so good on a horrific team

Player 1 because his production has actually been important to his team's success.
