CC Sabathia threw a complete game 1-hit shutout against the Pirates today. The Brewers are appealing to baseball to have the 1 hit changed to a Sabathia error, so that Sabathia can have a no-hitter. The lone hit given up was a little nibbler by Andy Laroche just in front of the mound which Sabathia failed to field cleanly. But who knows whether he'd have had time to throw out Laroche at first base even if he had fielded it cleanly.
"He accomplished a no-hitter and wasn't given what he deserved. That should have been a no-hitter," Yost said. "That's a stinking no-hitter we all got cheated from. I feel horrible for CC."
Yost is upset.
"We are putting together a DVD with all the replays we have and sending it to MLB tomorrow," said Mike Vassallo, the Brewers' media relations director.
If MLB changes this to a no-hitter, it might have to go down as one of the easier no-hitters, since Sabathia won't have had to pitch the fifth through ninth innings with the increased pressure of knowing he has a no-hitter alive. "OMG I HAVE A NO-HITTER GOING I BETTER NOT SCREW IT UP WTF!!!"
