ESPN - Yastrzemski undergoes heart bypass surgery in Boston - MLB

Carl Yastrzemski was admitted to a Boston area hospital today, complaining of chest pains. He underwent triple bypass surgery, and according to his family, is doing well. Yaz was a great player, took over in left after the legendary Ted Williams, and was the last man to win the Triple Crown. Hopefully Yaz recovers quickly, I personally wish him and his family all the best.

The last Triple Crown Winner and a great baseball ambassador. Godspeed and hopefully a full recovery for the Yaz.

Pathetic Stat of the Year- Matt Cain has a 3.74 career ERA, but has won just 30 of his 104 starts.

If the damage to the heart muscle is minimal, he should have many more years left.
Side note -- Yaz single handedly broke the hearts of all of us young Twins' fans in 1967 with his torrid streak over the final 2 weeks of that season. He carried the Red Sox into the WS by himself, or so it appeared.
I wish him only the best. He is a true Hall-of-Famer.
