When Perez faces good teams he is and he is geting more consistent overall. he has that potential but maine has regressed, both are quality starters but neither is a stud yet.

as opposed to Beckett(a stud), Dice-K(pretty good, but walks WAY too many batters), Lester is darn good, but Buchholz, Masterson, and Wakefield are just ok.

Show me the numbers that give you any hope at all he'll be a stud, his numbers are worse in basically every stat than last year

What a waste of a poll.

So are Beckett's. Does that mean he's gonna be mediocre for the rest of eternity? So were Beckett's in 2006...I'd say he rebounded pretty well. Beckett's numbers in 2006, and actually his ERA for THIS YEAR are both higher than either Perez or Maine this year.

You have a point in saying that Perez has been inconsistent, but a lot of young lefties have gone through struggles early in their careers. You have to watch them pitch, realize that they both have excellent stuff, Maine has very good command, and are both learning to pitch in ways they had never had to before. Can I guarantee that they will ever be aces? No. But I really think you're severely underrating them.

Beckett isn't the pitcher the world makes him out to be...he's inconsistent and has great seasons and mediocre ones... but he has shown to become dominant when it matters (playoffs especially). He's a very good 2 starter, maine and perez's numbers in 2007 were not as good as Beckett's in 07.

Every time you have an argument with someone about a person you don't have to put up a poll about it because no one really cares that much.

I only make polls for the long arguments that can't reach a resolution... and 2 polls in 2 months isn't that ridiculous
