It isn't funny, it is sad. That is one of the most basic fundamentals of baseball.
What was one of the first things you were taught as a little leaguer?
For me it was as soon as contact is made with the ball, run your ass off for first base and do not stop, no matter what. Do not slide head first into first base, stay in the base path and, DO NOT STOP, run the firstbaseman over if that is what it takes.
These guys making mega bucks seem to have forgotten that. And, don't think that old school fans like me don't notice that stuff. Everytime I see a player not do that basic function, I loose more respect for that player.
He deserves to be benched!
