It's official: Preston Mattingly was a waste of a first round pick. No shock that Donnie and Kim didn't fight for custody over Preston.

Marcus Giles reportedly changed his mind about signing a minor league deal with the Dodgers after agreeing to terms with the team.
According to the L.A. Daily News, Giles was driving to join the Triple-A Las Vegas affiliate from his home in San Diego, only to turn around before he got there. The plan was for Giles to play third base for the 51s for about 10 days before being called up by the Dodgers. Now he might be considering retirement.
Some people are just too old to be playing in AAA I guess.
2008 Giants > Padres
Pathetic Stat of the Year- Matt Cain has a 3.74 career ERA, but has won just 30 of his 104 starts.
Henri Stanley - remember him? He was the prospect acquired from the Red Sox in exchange for Dave Roberts. He was also once touted as the best minor leaguer you've never heard of. Looking at Stanley's stats before he got to the Dodger organization I can agree that DePo made a good low-risk gamble to get him. Unfortunately, he ceased being an on-base machine in his last year and a half in professional baseball, which sucks, because he could've made a better leadoff hitter than Roberts.

Hong-Chih Kuo was added to the rotation. Loaiza is demoted to a mopup relief duty with Chan Ho Park. The haters can STFU about our 5th starter spot for now.

He's better than any of the washed up vets: Hendrickson, Bombko, Loaiza, whom they've put in the fifth spot in the last two years.

Noarm Garciapopup was activated from the DL, which sucks because Dewitt deserves to be in the starting lineup instead of that has been. They might as well send Dewitt to Triple A instead of letting him rot on the bench. It looks like it will be up to Andy LaRoche, when he comes back, to bump Noarm out of the lineup.

Brian Falkenborg was designated for assignment. He will not be missed.

Los Angeles Dodgers owner Frank McCourt said today he is prepared to provide financial backing to a group seeking to purchase the rights to the Los Angeles Marathon, but several unspecified conditions must be met.
"The Los Angeles Marathon is an important civic asset that has the potential to have an even greater impact on the city of Los Angeles," McCourt said. "Because of its great potential, I am evaluating the opportunity together with Going the Distance.
So he wants to buy a sport that nobody watches, but he won't spend $2 million to cover Casey Blake's salary. Gotta admire how he has his priorities in check.
