Biggio's friendship with Yogi Berra started in earnest some 17 years ago, when Biggio was an Astros rookie and Berra was a coach under manager Hal Lanier.

Biggio tried to call Berra on Wednesday to wish him a happy 80th birthday, but Berra's wife told him he was probably hiding out playing cards in the Yankees clubhouse after their game.

Biggio was just glad he remembered to call Berra, who usually reciprocates the call every year on Dec. 14.

"I was mad at him because usually he calls me every year in New Jersey for my birthday," Biggio joked. "I yelled at him for not calling me this past season. He forgot."

Happy Belated Yogi. You taught him well.

Biggio and Berra. LOL what a pair. Wish I had friends like that. Lucky Biggio. Then again, I would love to have Biggio as a friend as well, so what am I talking about?
